EVOLUTION OF THE CRAFT

The field of furniture conservation-restoration has today significantly moved away from the artisanal trade of cabinetmaking, as envisioned by the most famous masters of past eras.

The dilemma today is both to respect the history of the piece, without falsification and without erasing the traces of its passage through time, to preserve all its original witnesses, to tend towards the reestablishment of its formal unity, and to prepare its future.

THE CHALLENGES

These challenges can only be fully realized through a multidisciplinary approach, involving both human sciences and exact sciences without forgetting a manual mastery beyond any suspicion regarding reversibility and minimal intervention. Also, it is as project lead of this complex construction that the conservator-restorer intervenes for the greatest benefit of the client.

MY VISION OF THE CRAFT

Internationalization of our discipline with its ethical rules, activities of treatment of works, applied research in a fully operational laboratory workshop, safety standards for both objects and operators, such is the summary of my vision of the profession, such is also the conception of my workspace.
